The Journal reports on the West Virginia Mountain Party's lawsuit against politicians David Tabb and Daniel Lutz for misrepresenting themselves as party leadership. Tabb and Lutz, who have previously run under the Mountain Party banner, allegedly caused confusion by claiming to lead the party, holding a separate convention, and nominating candidates without proper authority. The court granted a default judgment against them for failing to comply with legal requests, confirming the Mountain Party's legitimate leadership. During a recent hearing, the party requested over $10,000 in attorney fees and $50,000 in sanctions each to deter future issues. Former chair Denise Binion testified about the disruptions caused, including an embarrassing nomination of an unfit gubernatorial candidate, exacerbating the struggles for the party as it seeks qualified candidates.
