In a ceremony held at the Kearneysville Tree Fruit Research and Education Center, Jefferson County Commissioner Jane Tabb and her family were honored with a posthumous Recycling Champion award for her late husband, Lyle Campbell 'Cam' Tabb, by the Recycling Coalition of West Virginia. The Tabb family, farming in Jefferson County since 1872, pioneered yard waste composting in 1994, creating a certified composting site. They continue to contribute to sustainability by accepting organic waste from the community and processing it into valuable products such as firewood, animal bedding, and compost, reducing the need for commercial fertilizers.
