In a recent meeting reported by The Shepherdstown Chronicle, the Shepherdstown Town Council discussed significant local developments, including a proposed amendment to increase open space requirements in subdivisions from 10% to 30%. Public Works Director Charles 'Woody' Coe announced the town's glass recycling truck is beyond repair, necessitating the use of a garbage truck for pickups, and highlighted the new requirement for restaurants to install grease traps to protect sewer lines. Mayor James Gatz shared a positive update regarding a theft incident at the Shepherdstown Fairy Festival, where approximately $1,000 worth of goods were stolen but later recovered with the help of festival attendees dressed in costumes.
