Local SAR and DAR Members Foster International Friendship Through American History
In an article published by The Journal, local couple Odbert 'Duke' Courtney and Darla Treat Courtney extended a gesture of international friendship by hosting a group of A-Level students from England during their visit to the U.S. Their itinerary featured historical sites like Harpers Ferry National Historical Park and Antietam National Battlefield, where the Courtneys provided valuable guidance and insights. The students, who were studying the American Civil Rights movement, found the day outdoors a highlight of their trip, showcasing the bilateral appreciation for history and education shared by both the U.S. and the UK. Both DAR and SAR, organizations the Courtneys are part of, emphasize the importance of historical knowledge in guiding democratic ideals.
