In a recent article by The Spirit of Jefferson, Jefferson County school officials are exploring an alternative plan to keep North Jefferson Elementary School operational, following a citizen's proposal just before a crucial school board meeting. The new plan aims to allow the school to remain open but with a reduced capacity, serving three fewer grades than its current range from pre-kindergarten to fifth grade. Currently, the school caters to 243 students, predominantly in the younger grades, which could be affected by the proposed changes.
