Judges Hammer and Cohee Sworn into New Judicial Circuit
On December 17, Judges David Hammer and Bridget Cohee took their oaths in a ceremony at the Jefferson County Court House, marking the establishment of the 28th Judicial Circuit, specifically for the county. Hammer, who has advocated for this dedicated circuit since 2015, thanked local state representatives for their support in creating this significant development, which enhances the legal framework for residents of Charles Town, Harpers Ferry, and Ranson, as they transition from the previous 23rd Circuit that included Berkeley and Morgan counties. This new circuit will officially commence its operations on January 1.
