In an uplifting event covered by The Spirit of Jefferson, Comet Jefferson, a therapy dog, was warmly welcomed on his first day at Jefferson High School. This initiative is part of the Friends with Paws program, launched by Governor Jim Justice and First Lady Cathy Justice, aimed at introducing certified therapy dogs in schools to support students emotionally. During a special assembly, Comet received a royal welcome, with the school's band and Air Force Junior ROTC corps honoring him as he entered the gym, underlining the positive impact of therapy dogs on students' well-being.
