The Spirit of Jefferson reports that the Jefferson County Commission has initiated the purchase of a 91,600-square-foot building from the American Public University System in Charles Town, with plans to relocate most county government offices by the end of 2025. On November 7, the commission unanimously agreed to a $16.6 million purchase, starting a 120-day due diligence period, with the sale expected to finalize in May. The building, which will be renamed Jefferson County Government Building, is currently assessed at about $10.5 million, suggesting a market value of over $17.5 million.
