In an effort to inform voters about a proposed renewal of a special excess property tax levy, Jefferson County Schools administrators are set to attend over 30 meetings leading up to Election Day on November 5. If the levy, projected at $25.4 million annually, is approved, it will allow for the continuation of an existing additional tax on property in Jefferson County from 2026 to 2031. The levy will impose a fee of $45.90 per $10,000 assessed value for residential properties and $91.80 for non-residential properties, maintaining the current assessment rate that expires in June 2026.
