In a remarkable display of community spirit, residents of Jefferson County and surrounding areas have come together to support survivors of Hurricane Helene, the deadliest Atlantic hurricane since 2017. The hurricane made landfall on September 27, prompting a coordinated response to deliver much-needed supplies. Jason Funk, president of Patton’s Movers in Winchester, Virginia, played a key role by transporting 10 trucks filled with 95 pallets of supplies to affected towns like Spruce Pine and Banner Elk in Western North Carolina, near Asheville. This effort showcases the dedication and resilience of the community, as reported by The Spirit of Jefferson.
