Home Building Construction Continues On Fast Pace In Jefferson County

According to The Independent Observer, Jefferson County has seen a substantial increase in home building, with 612 construction permits issued in the first half of 2024, a significant rise compared to 776 permits for all of 2023. Chief County Engineer Roger Goodwin anticipates that the total for 2024 could exceed 1,200 permits. The area currently boasts over 6,000 buildable lots, and major developments are ongoing, including the Birdhill subdivision and several initiatives by various builders. The trend indicates a shift towards denser housing options such as townhomes, reflecting a burgeoning residential market in the county.
