In a resolution to a year-long controversy in Jefferson County, former commissioners Tricia Jackson and Jennifer Krouse pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of failing to perform their elected duties, while 41 other charges were dropped as part of a plea deal. Their removal from office was upheld by the state Supreme Court after they were accused of willfully missing meetings and delaying critical county functions. Each was fined $50 and ordered to pay court costs. The case underscored significant repercussions for county operations, as noted by local prosecutors, and was reported by WV Metro News.
