The Spirit of Jefferson reports that Jefferson County government is struggling to find a qualified chief financial officer to avoid past budgeting errors. County Administrator Edwina Benites mentioned during a commission meeting that despite a competitive salary range of $80,000 to over $120,000, attracting applicants has been challenging, with only a handful of responses after reaching out to approximately 200 potential candidates. Benites expressed concern over the difficulty in filling the position.
