Draft comprehensive development plan draws calls for changes

At a public hearing held by the Jefferson County Commissioners on December 4, residents expressed concerns over water resource protection and land use in the proposed Jefferson County 2045 Comprehensive Plan. This marked the first opportunity for the public to voice their opinions on the plan, which has been developed since 2022. Approximately 29 residents shared their views, prioritizing sustainable practices for development in the 140-page document that includes 17 goals and 58 objectives. A question and answer session preceded the public hearing, attended by around 100 people, highlighting community engagement in local governance, as reported by The Spirit of Jefferson.
