Berkeley Medical Center now handling routine baby deliveries for Jefferson County families

According to The Spirit of Jefferson, due to a significant decline in birth rates at WVU Medicine Jefferson Medical Center, routine baby deliveries for Jefferson County families have been shifted to Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg starting June 3. Teresa McCabe, vice president of marketing and development for both centers, explained that the ten-year tracking of birth rates indicated a steady drop since 2014, with only 160 births last year and 61 recorded by May of this year.
