Surveys to begin for the transmission line project in Jefferson County

In an article published by The Journal, it was reported that residents in Jefferson County are receiving letters from FirstEnergy Corporation regarding a new transmission line project intended to supply energy to data centers in Loudoun County, Virginia. The line will run along Summit Point Road and pass over the mountain, following existing transmission corridors. While surveying begins, concerns from residents about livestock safety have emerged. FirstEnergy's Potomac Edison plans to file applications in 2025, with the line expected to be operational by 2030, while also engaging the community through a website and an open house planned for early 2025.
