According to The Journal, Code Ninjas is a new coding academy in Ranson that combines video game creation with martial arts themes to engage students in learning to code. Opened recently at 217 Oak Lee Drive, it is the first of its kind in West Virginia, aimed at making coding exciting for kids aged five and up. The academy, owned by Brian LaBombard, offers a progressive, self-paced curriculum where students learn foundational coding skills using drag-and-drop methods and advance to programming languages like JavaScript, HTML, and CSS. With familiar elements like a belt ranking system and mentorship from older students, Code Ninjas provides a supportive environment that emphasizes building gaming skills rather than just playing games. Monthly programs are available for different age groups, and the academy emphasizes productive screen time for children, preparing them with skills applicable for future job opportunities.
