Charles Town Council Approves Plan for Outdoor Drinking Zone
In an article published by The Spirit of Jefferson, the Charles Town City Council voted 7-1 to draft an ordinance for a designated downtown zone allowing pedestrians to carry and drink beer and wine outside. The proposal, first discussed in April, aims to establish a Private Outdoor Designated Area (PODA) to enhance social engagement and attract more visitors to the area by facilitating outdoor alcohol consumption. Local business owners supported the initiative, referencing the success of a similar model in Huntington, which has a significantly larger population.
