In a recent development reported by The Spirit of Jefferson, the city of Charles Town has agreed to purchase over 2.8 acres of vacant land from the American Public University System (APUS) following an executive council meeting. Although the terms, including the sale price, cannot currently be disclosed due to legal restrictions, the property had been appraised at approximately $1 million after APUS invested $3.9 million in environmental cleanup. This decision comes after discussions on potentially using eminent domain to secure the sale of the land.
