Former mayor receives award for past, present contributions to community

In a ceremony held by Shepherdstown Area Independent Living (SAIL), former mayor Arthur “Jim” Auxer, III received the Jack and Martha Young Community Service Award for his significant past and current contributions to the Shepherdstown community. According to Carolee Youngblood, the program coordinator at SAIL, Auxer was recognized for his leadership as mayor and his ongoing role as Shepherd University's liaison to the town. Despite losing the recent municipal election, Auxer remains dedicated to community service, focusing on enhancing the town and supporting its senior citizens.
