The Shepherdstown Chronicle reports on the 35th Annual Apple Butter Festival held by volunteers at the Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department. Over the years, the process of making apple butter has evolved, with modern methods allowing for more efficient production. This year, more than 4,000 jars of apple butter were processed with the help of community volunteers and various local organizations. Funds raised from the festival support the fire department's operational costs, with ongoing support from Domino Sugar through donations of their product, which has remained consistent since the original recipe's inception. Jars of apple butter are available for purchase at the fire department and other community locations.
